Judges: Jane Adlin, Associate Curator, Nineteenth-Century, Modern, and Contemporary Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art: Jane Adlin is Associate Curator for design and architecture at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she has recently curated the exhibitions Calder Jewelry, The Art of Betty Woodman, One of a Kind: The Studio Craft Movement, and Art Deco Paris. She has co-curated many other exhibitions including Santiago Calatrava: Sculpture into Architecture, Cartier 1900-1939 and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Adlin is an adjunct professor at the Cooper-Hewitt Graduate Program in Decorative Arts as well as an advisor to AIDA, The Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, and Friends of Contemporary Ceramics. Katherine Brinson, Assistant Curator, Guggenheim Museum: Katherine Brinson, Assistant Curator, has been a member of the Guggenheim Museum’s curatorial staff since 2005. During her time at the Guggenheim, she has worked on exhibitions including Richard Prince: Spiritual America; Louise Bourgeois; and theanyspacewhatever. Brinson also works closely with the museum’s Young Collectors Council, which focuses on acquiring the work of emerging artists for the permanent collection. Katy and Jason Friedland, Collectors: Katy and Jason Friedland have been collecting art for the past 8 years, at first by foregoing more traditional wedding gifts for an art gallery registry. Their collection has been growing ever since, focused primarily focused on Photography and works on paper and featuring contemporary artists Robert and Shanna Park-Harrison and Hiroshi Watanabe, Photographer Edward S. Curtis, and lithographic prints by Dali, Miro and Klimt. Katy has worked with museums for over ten years, including New York’s Museum of Arts and Design, Denver’s Museum of Outdoor Arts, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Jason is an executive at Iron Stone Real Estate, where his expertise includes acquisition, construction management, financing, zoning, leasing and portfolio & asset management. Emily Klug, Associate Registrar, PaceWildenstein: Emily Klug manages incoming artwork from 30 of the most significant Modern and Contemporary artists or artists’ estates of the past hundred years. She worked for a coterie of private art dealers for three years before joining PaceWildenstein’s Registrar’s Department. An alumna of the Bard Graduate Center of Decorative Arts, Design and Culture, Klug has studied and written about topics ranging from fashion to interiors to Marcel Duchamp. Kathryn MacLeod-Schafer, Senior Photography Producer, Vanity Fair: Kathryn MacLeod-Schafer is the Senior Photography Producer at Vanity Fair magazine. Working exclusively with the photographer Annie Leibovitz for over a decade, she has produced many of the magazine’s iconic photographs, featuring the world¹s most influential individuals. She lives in New York City. Julie Ragolia, Fashion Director, CITY: Julie has been a fashion contributor to a host of prominent magazines, including international editions of W and Vogue, Interview, Esquire, Vanity Fair, and The Fader. She is currently the Fashion Director of CITY, having come in as part of the magazine’s celebrated redesign. Julie has defined the fashion styles for numerous celebrities and musicians, including Lindsay Lohan, The Killers, David & Victoria Beckham, and All-American Rejects. Her styling has been used in commercial campaigns for clients as diverse as Motorola, BMW, and Neiman Marcus. Will Ryman, Artist: Will Ryman is a young American artist, who lives and works in New York City. Although he began his creative career as a writer, he began creating sculptures based on the characters from his plays in 2001. Ryman had his first solo exhibition in 2004 and is currently represented by Marlborough Gallery. He has quickly become well-known in the contemporary art world for his expressive, cartoon-like figural sculpture. |
